Coyanarup is situated in the southern part of Western Australia, a region characterised by a mediterranean climate that transitions into more temperate conditions as you move toward the coast. While tropical cyclones rarely reach this far south in their original form, the remnants of these systems can occasionally track down the coast, bringing unseasonal heavy rain and flash flooding. In winter, the primary concerns are associated with strong wind gusts from deep low-pressure systems and the potential for frost on clear, still nights which can affect local primary production.
