Where the forecast comes from
Published by Tim's Severe Weather from Tim's Severe Weather. The model adds up all rain, showers and storm rainfall over the forecast period, then we recolour the chart so the scale is easier to read without changing a single value.
What it can and cannot tell you
Totals are a broad regional guide, not a suburb-by-suburb measurement. Thunderstorm rainfall is the hardest part to place, timing can run a few hours early or late, and readings near the edge of the map are less reliable. Check radar and current warnings close to the event.
Using the daily rainfall forecast safely
This map is forecast guidance, not a warning. Rainfall totals can change with every model run, and a single storm can drop far more rain on one catchment than the map suggests. Official rainfall, flood and severe weather warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology always take priority. Never drive through floodwater.
