These coastal influences also mean humidity levels remain relatively high throughout the year, particularly during the summer months when tropical air masses move south from the Coral Sea.

During the warmer months, moist easterly trade winds are common, often bringing brief showers or afternoon thunderstorms. These storms can occasionally become severe, producing heavy rainfall and gusty winds. In contrast, the winter months are typically dominated by high-pressure systems that result in clear skies and light winds, making it the driest period of the year for this part of the state.

Severe Weather and Coastal Risks

While Moondarewa is located south of the traditional tropical cyclone strike zone, the region remains susceptible to the remnants of ex-tropical cyclones. These systems can bring significant rainfall and coastal erosion. Additionally, East Coast Lows are a primary concern for this stretch of the Queensland coastline. These intense low-pressure systems can develop rapidly, leading to gale-force winds and dangerous surf conditions. Residents should also remain aware of the fire season, which usually peaks in late spring before the onset of the summer wet season.
