Newport is situated on the shores of Moreton Bay, positioned at a latitude that places it firmly within Australia's humid subtropical climate zone. This geographic location results in warm, humid summers and mild, dry winters. The presence of the bay serves as a thermal regulator, often moderating the extreme heat found further inland in the Brisbane western suburbs during the summer months. Prevailing south-easterly trade winds frequently bring moisture-laden air from the Coral Sea, influencing cloud cover and humidity levels throughout the year.

This period is characterised by lower humidity and consistent sunshine, making it the driest part of the annual cycle for the Redcliffe Peninsula.
