Climate of the Atherton Tablelands

Tarzali is situated in the high-altitude region of the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. Because of its elevation, the local climate differs significantly from the tropical humidity found at sea level in nearby Cairns. While the region is within a tropical latitude band, the altitude brings cooler temperatures and a higher frequency of mist and cloud cover. The prevailing trade winds often carry moisture from the Coral Sea, which is lifted by the range to produce reliable rainfall throughout the year.
