Because the island is surrounded by water, it typically avoids the heavy frosts that can impact inland parts of the Scenic Rim. However, residents and visitors should remain aware of severe thunderstorm risks during the spring and summer months. These storms often develop over the ranges to the west before moving towards the coast, sometimes bringing lightning and localized wind gusts that can impact marine safety in the surrounding channels.
