Yarragundry is situated in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, a geographical area characterised by its temperate climate and significant seasonal variation. Positioned within the productive Riverina, the weather here is influenced by its inland location, often resulting in hot, dry summers and cool, crisp winters. During the warmer months, high-pressure systems frequently dominate the landscape, leading to clear skies and elevated temperatures. Given its inland position, Yarragundry is susceptible to specific weather-related risks. Heatwaves are a primary concern during mid-summer, often accompanied by elevated fire danger when dry northerly winds increase. The region also monitors the development of severe thunderstorms during the transition from spring to summer, which can bring heavy rain, hailstones, and strong wind gusts. In the cooler months, persistent fog can develop in the valleys and low-lying areas, impacting visibility on the Sturt Highway and surrounding local roads.
